Christmas Eve with the Family

Our cousin Rose and her husband John came from Seattle to celebrate Christmas with us this year. John and Michael talked shop (woodworking) the entire time. Interestingly, John is a trained apprentice cabinet-maker. Ofcourse, Michael made lots of wood pens as gifts this year. Perhaps the best present I got was the cd audio stereo for my car from my brother. No more stinkin' portable cd player with the tape adapter - no more bad audio and bad skipping.

Painting is not for the Faint-Hearted

Like Curleygirl and MapGeek, we also painted a 2-story room over Thanksgiving break. We are really bad about choosing colors though, because we went through three gallons of paint, each a shade darker than the previous. Home Depot doesn't let you return paint anymore, which is a shame, because I liked looking through the "oops" paint.

Since my husband refused to climb up the 20-foot ladder, I had to be the brave one. Wow, 20-feet doesn't seem that high from the bottom, but during my first climb up to the top, I looked like a scared cat hugging the tree and shaking. What did hubby do? Laugh and take pictures!

Before, during, and after:
Turkey Feast

Thanksgiving was one of the largest family reunions we've had in awhile, partly because alot of non-related people were there too. We had TWO turkeys this year and both were almost all gone! We were really looking forward to trying fried turkey this year, but oh well, maybe next year.

We played ping-pong, billiards, piano, guitars (my cousins are so talented!) to burn off the calories because I think there were 6 dessert dishes and my aunt threatened us that we could not leave if we didn't eat enough to satisy her. Did somebody say leftovers?
